At Both Services 9am & 11am
In celebration of Black History Month, the chancel choir, handbells, and soloists will present a dramatic/musical performance of God's Trombones Seven Negro Sermons in Verse, written in 1927 by James Weldon Johnson. Patterned after traditional African American religious “folk sermons” the seven short sermons will be presented by members of the congregation. The seven stories, which range from the story of Genesis to the Crucifixion and Resurrection, includes a funeral sermon and the tale of Noah and the flood, interspersed with soul stirring song performances.
