Welcome to

CLIMATE WEEK

We’re so glad you’re here!

Many individuals are deeply concerned about the climate crisis but don’t know what they can do about it. We hope that this Climate Week will provide you with the information, resources, and options that you need for taking meaningful climate action. Most people feel a sense of improved well being, even some relief, once they are able to be part of the solution to our climate emergency.

A common question is:

What’s the one thing I can do to stop climate change?

Solving the climate crisis will come through shifts in our personal behavior and in transformation of the larger systems we depend on. So there is no silver bullet. But there are several ways you can act to:

(1) Make shifts to reduce your own carbon pollution.

(2) Multiply your impact by raising awareness and advocating for systemic change.

The science is clear, that to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis we need to reduce greenhouse gas pollution 50% by 2030. So every action matters. Every fraction of a degree we can prevent will move us toward a healthier, more sustainable and just future.

Make this YOUR climate week.

Choose what engages and challenges you. Each day has:

Why It’s Important

Bright Spots

Of course, the more actions you can take the better!

Climate change will affect every person and every living thing on earth. Climate change is everyone’s issue. How serious it becomes is up to us. When the Earth Moves, by the Outrider Organization, provides context for acting on climate and for considering the two important questions below. Well worth watching.

This Climate Week is a homemade effort from our hearts to yours. We have borrowed from many resources to put this together. Our hope is to help participants address the following questions:

Will I take responsibility?

What will I do?

Members of our CAN Team have contributed to this crisis unknowingly throughout our lifetimes. We did not mean to cause this emergency but we will take responsibility for joining the fight and for the planet we leave behind. We hope that you will too.

Welcome!

We’re so glad you’re here.
