Cantata Singers Needed

Our annual cantata choir and any interested singers are invited to join us for the French composer Gabriel Fauré’s sublimely beautiful Requiem in D Minor, for choir & soloists, organ, strings, and harp. The concert date is Palm Sunday, March 24, at 4pm. We will be joining other choirs, and the performance will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette in Berkley. The work is only 35 minutes, and we will have rehearsal recordings and on-line scores for all singers. The choir and orchestra will be conducted by Roger Smith, director of music at Zion Lutheran Church in Ferndale.

Rehearsals begin on Thursday, January 18 at 7:00pm and will be 45 minutes. In celebration of National Fish Taco Day, we will have a taco bar dinner in Fellowship Hall starting at 6:00pm. Please sign up to sing so we have enough scores for everyone, and please make your reservation for dinner. A sign-up sheet is on my door in the multi-purpose room. Yes, I'm old school!

Everyone is welcome to come and join in – no auditions. Singing in 4-part harmony in a 50-strong choir, together with professional orchestra and soloists, is an incredibly fulfilling, creative and inspiring experience and we want you to be part of it! A free will offering will be received and will benefit the Welcome Inn Homeless Center and Gleaners Community Food Bank. - Dianne Cragg, Director of Music
