LENTEN PRAYER PROJECT
Lent is a time to focus on our lives in relationship to Jesus, our friends and family through prayer. To assist in this endeavor, the Deacons are implementing a Lenten Prayer Project. Do you feel the need for some additional prayers for yourself or someone you know? Are you able to provide a few minutes each day to pray for someone in need? Beginning Sunday, March 3rd, forms will be available on the Sound Table at the rear of the sanctuary. If you are
in need of some prayers for whatever reason, please complete a form, place it in an envelope, seal it and put it in the basket. On Sunday, March 10th, if you are able to provide prayers for someone during the Lenten season, please take an envelope home and add that person to your prayer list. This is all done anonymously until Easter when you may identify yourself by sending an Easter card or just providing a hug to say you care.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only son…. Can you give a few minutes each day to pray for someone to provide comfort, strength, and encouragement?
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE AT CANA LUTHERAN
MARCH 6 6 PM DINNER, 7 PM WORSHIP
We begin our 40 day Lenten pilgrimage to Jerusalem on March 6. In the spirit of Mardi Gras, we will have a pancake supper, music, and games at 6 pm. Then we will ascend to Cana’s sanctuary to begin the Lenten journey with worship featuring an ecumenical choir, Holy Communion, and Imposition of Ashes.
MAUNDY THURSDAY DINNER/SERVICE
APRIL 18 AT 6:15PM
Join us for a special evening of dinner and worship (combined.) On Maundy Thursday we retell the story of Jesus’ last night including The Last Supper, His arrest in Gethsemane, the denial and betrayal of his disciples. The service that night entitled “Voices from the Margins” features dramatic readings from some of the lesser known characters in the passion narrative (e.g. the servant girl who recognized Peter, the man set free instead of Jesus (Barabbas), the Roman Centurion at the cross). All of these will be read by members of the Greenfield family. Please remember to arrive for the dinner as the readings and communion are during the meal.
GOOD FRIDAY ECUMENICAL SERVICE
Join us for a one hour service at noon on April 19 as we dramatically retell the story of Jesus’s final hours, focusing primarily on his last words on the cross. Members of Cana Lutheran, Drayton Avenue Presbyterian and friends from the community will join us for this holy day. An ecumenical choir will help lead us in worship.
EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 21
Our celebration of the Resurrection begins on April 21 at 8:45 a.m. with our Praise service.
The service features our Praise Team and communion in the round. Note the early starting time for the service, which will allow plenty of time to make it to the Easter brunch, beginning immediately afterward (about 10:00 a.m.) The 11:00 service will serve Holy Communion. Hope you all can join us!
