When pain is real, why is God silent? Frederick Buechner, one of the outstanding Presbyterian authors of our day, has grappled with the nature of pain and grief ever since his father committed suicide when Buechner was a young boy. He continued that search as a father when his daughter struggled with anorexia. In this series, we read some of Buechner’s best writings on pain and loss, covering such topics as the power of hidden secrets, loss of a dearly beloved, letting go and resurrection from the ruins. Loss will come to us all, but we are never alone.
